ABOUT SHABABI:

.. Merging culture, family, and the story of diaspora.

...Threading the comfort and complexities of the flavors of home, as well as the restaurant kitchens my parents owned when I was a child, offered me a lifetime of appreciation for a land I knew through heritage. The flavors and feelings represented here pay homage to my experience growing up as a first generation American. I look forward to welcoming you on my journey of remembrance and reclamation.

...Starting with our concepts staple - chicken inspired by musakhan, the national dish of Palestine, and the world famous rotisserie chickens that are served in the West Bank. Our Shababi chicken is brined for 24 hours before being coated with our blended mix of allspice, sumac, cumin, fenugreek, and cardamom. Each chicken is slow cooked to perfection and served with our Shabibi taboon.

Beckon the call "Yalla Shabai" to your people and have them join you for this Palestinian inspired feast!

YALLA SHABABI!

Shababi is Arabic for “my people”. Whether it’s an auntie using it to call all of the kids for musakhan dinner, or baba gathering his group of friends to play backgammon- Shababi evokes the sense of community and flavors that stuck out in youthful memories.

Sincerely, Marcelle

NA Beverages:

We will have a collection of non-alcoholic beverages to pair with dinner from Little Saints, Good Spirits, Oddbird, and Gnista.

THE WINES:

Chante Cigale - Cicada Rouge '2022 (Rhone, FRA)
Cicada Rouge by Chante Cigale is a Vin de France that combines fresh, ripe red berries with notes of forest floor and subtle spice. Delicious notes of red and black cherries add a unique complexity, while soft tannins and lovely acidity make this perfect for pairing with pasta, grilled lamb, and ratatouille. The Cicada takes its name from the emblem of the Domaine – Chante Cigale – the famed ‘singing cicadas’ of Provence. Blend:  80%Grenache, 20% Carignan. ABV 14%
$5.29 - 750ml  (Discounted Price)

Cantine Federiciane - Monteleone Gragnano, Rosso (Campania, ITA)
Gragnano is a gently frizzante (sparkling) red wine that takes its name from a town of the same name on the Sorrento Peninsula. It is low in alcohol with a distinct taste of red grapes. It pours with a stunning purple foaminess and has an acidity/effervescence the makes it the perfect partner for pizza among other dishes! Aromatic with notes of grape & berry, earth and a hint of spice. Rich and soft in the mouth, effervescent yet dry with gentle tannins. ABV 10.5%
$19.79 - 750ml  (Discounted Price)

Broccardo '- Langhet' Arneis '2022 (Langhe , ITA)
In the third generation of the winemaking Broccardo family, siblings Fillipo, Federica, and Laura choose to follow in the steps of their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. The goal remains the same, which is to say they haven’t changed much of anything at all; there is only a stronger push forward with organic practices. The Broccardo wines strive to elegantly express the precise minerality typical of their native soils. With prime vineyard positions in Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, and Novello, the task is no chore. The grapes do the work themselves, and are simply ushered, with slight hand, from vine to cellar to bottle. With a minerality edging on tannin, this is a serious and structured value wine. Soft, and bright with yellow fruit, this direct-press wine carries a little weight and great freshness. ABV 13.5%
